On 28 January, Canada’s Foreign Interference Commission released its so-called final report, which repeated the same old cliche, and made groundless accusations and smears against China. China firmly opposes this and strongly condemns it.

China has always been upholding the non-interference principle in internal affairs and has never interfered in the internal affairs of Canada, nor is interested in doing so. The label of “interference in internal affairs” can never be put on China. The Embassy and Consulates-General of China in Canada have always performed their duties properly in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, and everything we do has been aboveboard and beyond reproach.

Meanwhile, China will never accept any slander and smear against China, and firmly opposes the Canadian side’s blatant interference in China’s internal affairs on issues such as Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Xizang, and will take all necessary measures to resolutely safeguard China’s legitimate and lawful rights and interests.

Lies cannot hide the truth, and justice lies in the hearts of the people. China urges the Canadian side to reflect on itself, abandon its “double standards” and ideological biases, immediately stop its groundless attacks and smears against China, stop interfering in China’s internal affairs, and take real actions to safeguard the efforts of both sides to promote the healthy and stable development of China-Canada relations.
