On 8 November 2015, Ambassador Luo Zhaohui and his wife, Dr. Jiang Yili, attended “The Call of Peace”, a panoramic music and dance show, at Centrepointe Theatre, Ottawa. The show was staged by the Ottawa-based Chinese community to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. Minister Wang Wentian and Minister-Counsellor Han Tao also attended the event.

The show, focusing on its anti-fascist theme, highlighted the indomitable national spirit, great bravery and gallantry of the Chinese people when fighting the brute force and invasion of the Japanese aggressors, and their ardent aspiration for world peace. It also reproduced scenes of Canadian doctor Norman Bethune and U.S. Flying Tigers fighting shoulder to shoulder with the Chinese people.

"The March of Broadsword”, "Song of the Guerrillas," "Defend the Yellow River" and other classic wartime songs struck an accord with the audience. The Chinese embassy women’s club also presented a group singing of "The Sun Rises and Shines All over the Land”.

At the end of the show, Ambassador Luo and his wife went on the stage and congratulated the cast and crew on their successful performance.

A photo exhibition of "Overseas Chinese and Anti-Japanese War", provided by the Chinese embassy, was on display at the venue of the show.

All Ottawa-based Chinese organisations participated and contributed to the performance.
