On 12th October, Mr. Wang Wentian, Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Chinese Embassy in Canada, attended the Senior Policy Forum on China-Canada Relations co-hosted by the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs and China Institute at the University of Alberta in the Fairmont Chateau Laurier Hotel Ottawa and made remarks in the Panel of “Prospects for Bilateral Relations: A Look over the Horizon”, comprehensively elaborating on the deliverables of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang’s visit to Canada in late September this year.

The Forum marked the inauguration of the second track dialogue of China-Canada foreign policy and was also a concrete step to implement the consensus reached by both countries’ leaders and the outcomes of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang’s visit to Canada. During the Forum, nearly a hundred people from all walks of life of the two countries, including Council Members of Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs and former Chinese Ambassadors to Canada Lan Lijun and Zhang Junsai, former Assistant Deputy Minister of Global Affairs Canada Susan Gregson, former Canadian Ambassadors to China Robert Wright and Guy Saint-Jacques, Policy Advisor (Asia-Pacific) to the Canadian Foreign Minister Pascale Massot, Director General of North Asia Bureau of Global Affairs Canada Sarah Taylor and Director of China Institute at the University of Alberta Gordon Houlden, gathered together and had in-depth discussions on issues such as China-Canada relationship, economy, trade and investment, environment protection, climate change, global governance and global security.

The Embassy’s Minister Counsellor Xia Xiang, Counsellor Mao Zhongying, Counsellor Zhuang Yaodong and Counsellor Tao Yihong were present in the Forum.
