On April 28th, Ambassador Cong Peiwu had a phone discussion with Mr. Goldy Hyder, President and CEO of the Business Council of Canada.

Ambassador Cong briefed on China's measures for the containment of COVID-19 and production resumption and the economic situation. He pointed out that the outbreak did not change the long-term positive trend of China's economy. China will continue to deepen reform and opening-up and take measures to stabilize the economy and employment. China welcomes foreign enterprises to further broaden their economic and trade cooperation with China.

Ambassador Cong said that fighting the virus required strengthened international cooperation. China is actively carrying out cooperation with relevant countries including Canada and WHO. We hope that with joint efforts from the international community we can win the battle against the virus at an early date.

Mr. Hyder agreed that it took strengthened cooperation among countries to fight the virus. He briefed on situations of Canada's containment of COVID-19 and the reopening of economy. He said members of the BCC were encouraged by China's opening-up and hoped to continue economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
