On February 14, Chinese Ambassador to Canada, H. E. CONG Peiwu met with Her Worship Rebecca Alty, Mayor of Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories. They exchanged views on promoting exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.

Ambassador CONG introduced the latest economic and social development of China. He emphasized that China’s economy had shown signs of recovery, and progress had been achieved in high-quality development. China continued to facilitate cross-border travel and promoted high-level opening up, which created more development opportunities for all parts of Canada, including Yellowknife. China is willing to further strengthen communications and exchanges with Yellowknife to release the potential of cooperation between the two sides.

Mayor Alty extended Chinese New Year wishes to Ambassador CONG and introduced the cooperation between Yellowknife and China. She said that Yellowknife attached great importance to the cooperation with China in fields including tourism, economy and trade, and would like to strengthen the people-to-people exchanges with China and expand the mutually beneficial cooperation.
