On November 14, 2014, Chinese Ambassador to Canada H.E. Wang Di met with Director-General for Pan-Geographic Policy and Public Diplomacy of Global Affairs Canada, Ms. Sonya Thissen, who coordinates international education cooperation on the Canadian side. 

Ambassador Wang stressed that China-Canada education cooperation is an important area of practical cooperation between the two sides, with a solid foundation and fruitful outcomes. Recently, during the CBIE (Canadian Bureau for International Education) Conference 2024, the two sides co-organized a China Spotlight event and a reception in celebration of the milestone of more than 1,000 students who studied in China through the Canada Learning Initiative in China (CLIC). Both events were well received. China stands ready to further deepen education cooperation with Canada and enhance mutual visits of teachers, students and scholars to strengthen mutual understanding and benefit both nations. 

Ms. Thissen said that Canada attaches importance to education cooperation with China and is ready to work with China to bring education exchanges and cooperation between the two countries to a higher level.
