The Chinese Embassy in Canada Held Two Consecutive Events Featuring Dialogues Between Young Diplomats and Students from the University of Ottawa

Recently, the Chinese Embassy in Canada held two consecutive events featuring dialogues between young diplomats and students from the University of Ottawa. More than a dozen young diplomats from the Embassy and over 100 students and teachers from the University of Ottawa attended the events.

Focusing on the themes of “To Build the China-Africa Community with a Shared Future” and “A Global Community of Shared Future” respectively, Minister-Counsellor Li Zhongzhou from the Embassy gave two talks, in which he elaborated on Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, introduced the distinctive features of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics and explained China’s positions in developing China-Canada relationship and China-Africa relationship. Young diplomats from the Embassy shared their perspectives on the outcomes and prospects of China-Africa cooperation and the huge potential of China-Canada cooperation. They also took questions from the students on the Belt and Road Initiative, China-Canada practical cooperation and the public diplomacy campaigns of the Embassy.

The exchanges and interactions were friendly and vibrant. The participants gave an overwhelmingly positive feedback on the event, highlighting that China is a major country with friendly people, rich cultural heritage and global impact. They praised the huge potential for China-Canada cooperation and hoped to learn more about China and Chinese diplomacy. When taking a photo, both the young diplomats and young students used a “C” gesture to represent China and Canada, extending their best wishes for a sound and stable China-Canada relationship.
