On April 25, 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Canada H.E. Wang Di met with André Desmarais, Honorary Chair of the Board of Directors of the Canada-China Business Council (CCBC), and his family.

Ambassador Wang expressed high appreciation to the Desmarais family for their long-term support for China-Canada relations, and commended CCBC’s efforts in promoting China-Canada cooperation. He stressed that China has always regarded Canada as a friend and partner, and expressed hope that Canada would move in the same direction with China, and strengthen exchanges and practical cooperation in various fields on the basis of correct perception, mutual respect, seeking common ground while reserving differences, and mutual benefit, so as to bring more concrete benefits to the people of the two countries.

Mr. Desmarais highlighted that Canada and China enjoy a profound traditional friendship and expressed hope that both sides would strengthen dialogue and mutual trust for better relations. He stressed that the Desmarais family and CCBC would remain committed to advancing Canada-China friendship.
