Song Tao Meets with Minister of International Trade of Canada

Toronto, January 25th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of International Trade of Canada.

Song introduced the main spirit and historic contributions of the 19th CPC National Congress. He expressed that the Congress has drawn a development blueprint for China from now to the middle of this century, which will bring new opportunities for exchanges and cooperation in economy and trade between both countries. China is willing to, together with Canada, to well implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, and expand exchanges and cooperation in such fields as trade, investment, finance, tourism, people-to-people and cultural engagement, so as to push China-Canada relations for sustained, healthy and stable development.

Champagne expressed that Canada attaches great importance to Canada-China relations. As both countries share great potential in economic and trade cooperation, the Canadian side stands ready to, together with China, push forward the construction of bilateral free trade zone, and expand practical cooperation in various fields, in a bid to promote Canada-China relations for sustainable development.

Song also presented Champagne with the second volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China.
