The University of Ottawa plans to organize a two-week study visit to Shanghai Jiao Tong University for 25 students currently studying Chinese. To ensure the smooth implementation of the program and to help students prepare for their trip to China, Chinese Embassy in Canada held a pre-departure session on March 24, 2026.

In his remarks, Minister-Counsellor Zhang Yongjun noted that China–Canada relations are entering a new stage of development, creating broader opportunities and greater potential for exchanges and cooperation across various fields. He encouraged the students to visit China, experience the country firsthand, and deepen mutual understanding and friendship.
During the session, detailed information on visa application, study programs in China, and application pathways was provided.
Representatives from the University of Ottawa’s International Office and Faculty of Arts attended the event and encouraged students to actively participate in people-to-people exchanges between China and Canada, and to serve as young ambassadors promoting friendship between the two countries.
