Recently, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service has released a so-called report that once again makes specious and baseless allegations, and groundlessly slanders and smears China, falsely claiming that China is one of the main perpetrators of foreign interference and espionage against Canada. This is pure fabrication and has no credibility whatsoever. The Chinese side strongly deplores and firmly opposes this.
I would like to reiterate that the claim that “China interferes in Canada’s internal affairs” is an utter political lie. China has always adhered to the principle of non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs. We have no interest in and have never interfered in Canada’s internal affairs. The label of “foreign interference” can never be pinned on China. For a long time, the Canadian side has grossly interfered in China’s internal affairs on issues involving China’s core interests, such as Taiwan, Xinjiang, Xizang and Hong Kong. The facts are clear and well-documented. It is crystal clear who is engaging in foreign interference. Meanwhile, China is one of the primary victims of cyberattacks. We have consistently and resolutely opposed and cracked down on all forms of cyberattacks in accordance with the law, and we are firmly committed to safeguarding cybersecurity. China urges Canada to engage in self-reflection, immediately cease its attacks and smear campaigns against China, stop interfering in China’s internal affairs, and stop politicizing and stigmatizing cybersecurity issues.
