Foreign nationals holding ordinary passports from 59 countries may enter and stay within the administrative region of Hainan Province for a maximum of 30 days without a visa for short-term stays for purposes associated with tourism, business, visits, family visits, medical treatment, conferences and exhibitions,sports competitions, etc(excluding long-term working and studying). Foreign nationals who need to enter Hainan for the aforementioned purposes can enter through any open port in the province and remain in the province's administrative area during their stay periods.
The duration of stay for each foreign national is calculated from 0:00 on the day following the day of entry.
For any foreign national covered by a mutual visa exemption agreement or any other visa exemption policy of China, the relevant provisions shall prevail.
Tourists must enter the country through the open ports in Hainan. Tourists who come to Hainan after going through the entry procedures from other open ports in China, cannot use the visa-free policy.
Tourists shall enter by civil aviation, business chartered flights, cruise ships, and so on. If there are no direct flights to Hainan, please first fly to countries or regions with direct flights to Hainan (e.g. Hong Kong, Macau), and then transfer to a direct flight to enter Hainan Province via one of the open airports in the province.
During the stay in Hainan,please abide by Chinese laws and regulations and register for accommodation in accordance with the law. Travelers staying in a hotel shall apply for registration in accordance with the regulations governing the hotel industry.Travelers residing or staying in a residence other than a hotel shall report to the police station of the public security for temporary registration of accommodation within 24 hours of arrival.
Travelers shall apply to the Exit-Entry Administration for a permit if they need to continue to reside in Hainan or leave for other parts of China for justifiable and reasonable reasons before the expiration of the duration of stay.
