On October 8, Chinese Ambassador to Canada H.E. Wang Di attended the 2026 Annual Conference of the Fisheries Council of Canada upon invitation and delivered a keynote address. Around 130 representatives from Canada’s political and business communities attended the event, including Catherine Boyd, Chair of the Fisheries Council of Canada, and Jason McLinton, President of the Council.

Ambassador Wang said that China-Canada relations have continued to improve and develop, with new progress being made in bilateral economic and trade cooperation. China and Canada enjoy strong complementarity, a solid foundation and great potential for cooperation in the fisheries and seafood sector. China stands ready to work with Canada to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, further expand trade in quality agricultural and seafood products, broaden industry cooperation, and enable businesses and people of both countries to share more opportunities and benefits from the development of China-Canada relations.

Participants spoke positively of the positive momentum in China-Canada relations, expressed confidence in the opportunities offered by the Chinese market, and voiced readiness to further deepen trade and industry cooperation with China in agricultural and seafood products.
