On 20th January, Ambassador Zhang Junsai held the 2014 Spring Festival Reception for Canada-China Friendship Society at the Chinese Embassy.

Ambassador Zhang offered his festival greetings to the quests, expressed his appreciation for the CCFS’s long-lasting commitment to strengthening the friendship and cooperation between China and Canada, and encouraged CCFS to continue to inject positive energy to the bilateral development of China-Canada relations. Ambassador Zhang also briefed the guests on the development of China-Canada relations, the Third Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and China’s ongoing deppening of comprehensively reform.

Ambassador Zhang condemned the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s Yasukuni Shrine visit in last December. He called on members of CCFS and other Canadian people to keep alert to the perverse act of the Japanese right-wing forces aiming at denying Japan’s history of aggression and challenging the historical justice and human conscience, and safeguard the outcome of the world’s victory in the war against fascism and the post-war international order.

Mr. Levi, the Co-President of CCFS spoke highly of the fast development of the bilateral relations in recent years and emphasized that CCFS stands ready to make even greater contribution to the cooperation and friendship between the two countries.

The Embassy also arranged an introduction about China’s tea culture at the reception.

Over one hundred and fifty members of CCFS attended the event.
